Let me tell you a little about myself. I have over 25 years of experience in the agricultural industry with hands-on management, planning, organizational and operating experience. I earned a Bachelors of Science with an emphasis on Animal Science from West Texas State University, and a Masters of Agriculture, also from West Texas State University.
I currently serve as the Executive Director of the 4-H Development Foundation and Ranch and Farm Operations, where I developed and implemented a Foundation Marketing Program that resulted in over $90,000 being raised annually to support statewide 4-H activities.
Prior to this current position, I was with Farm Credit for 24 years, where I worked as an Association Examiner, Credit Analyst, Credit Manager and President of a Production Credit Association, (PCA). During my tenure as President of the PCA, PCA’s assets grew more than 100% and the overall credit quality improved dramatically. When I became President the PCA had a substandard ranking, but under his leadership, the PCA received the highest rating available in the Farm Credit System for a PCA.
For seven years, I served as Secretary/Treasurer of the New Mexico Livestock Board. During the 1990’s, I served on the New Mexico Drought Task Force. I'm proud to have received numerous awards and recognition in the agricultural industry throughout his distinguished career.
I currently serve New Mexico citizens as the Republican Representative from District 28 in the New Mexico House of Representatives and have served in this capacity since 2005. I sit on the House Education Committee, the House Agriculture & Water Committee, the Interim Land Grant Committee, and the Interim School Funding Formula Study Committee.
